(PLEASE CLICK HYBRID ON THE MAP TO GET THE BEST VIEW)my actual path that was recorded by my phone. This application gives you a precise time, speed and actual path that I traveled. Unfortunately when I stopped to get gas in Nevada, I forgot to turn on the application to record the remaining trip to Salt Lake City, Utah. So therefore the actual time is based on my notes which took us 11 hours to get to my destination.
Today was Day 1 of our trip. We left the house at 11 am local time and we arrived in Salt Lake City which is Mountain Standard Time around 12 am. The major city we passed by was Reno. On our way to Reno we got stuck for about 45 minutes of bumper to bumper traffic, which had an effect on our overall speed and time. On our route through Nevada we realized it was completely dry. There was lots of yellow grass! We drove through ordinary hills in Nevada, but it was nice seeing the beauty of some of the mountains in the surrounding area. When we entered the state line into Utah we noticed so much salt on both the east bound and west bound highways; it was beautiful! We passed over 50 miles of salt! I've never seen anything like that. You can see the reflection of the salt from the water especially with the moon shining. When we were close to Salt Lake we passed the famous Salt Lake which was very big. Overall we stopped three times for a total of 1 hour.
